I see this has provoked an interesting discussion (with Francis B. below). Again, I can't really comment on the history as I don't know enough about it in this particular case, but I did enjoy the film. I didn't realise Verne referenced them. I'll have to read that book, and more importantly, I need to do some proper history reading around this subject.
