I still respect opinions with which I violently disagree, if they are well-argued and backed by facts not ignorance. Example: My mother-in-law is pretty much full-blown communist in her political beliefs. However hers is not the ignorant trendy opinion of some lefty student discovering Karl Marx for the first time who has never studied, say, the history what it was like living in East Germany or Stalin's Russia. She is basing her opinion on the same factual information on which I base mine. We simply have arrived at different conclusions (and respectfully disagree). I imagine a similar scenario would occur if we were to disagree on something (and if we chatted for long enough, I'm sure we'd find something). :)
