I still think Back to the Future is Zemeckis's best film by far, and if I were going to pick one of his films for Best Summer Blockbuster, I'd pick that one. Mind you, it came out in December 1985 in the UK, just as Who Framed Roger Rabbit came out in December 1988 in the UK. But both were summer films in the US. (I saw both at the cinema during their original runs, as a 10 and 13 year old, respectively).
