I still think cutting to Japan would have come off as crass tokenism, not to mention narratively inconsistent. Besides, the visceral suffering of the Japanese comes across in Oppenheimer’s guilt ridden hallucinations. I don’t think the issue is dodged or ignored at all. It’s just experienced through Oppenheimer’s eyes.
