I suppose that's a key difference between us. Like any cineaste, I love watching films from other eras, and indeed generally prefer it. But if that's not your thing, fair enough. Personality comes into play, and I suppose Powell and Pressburger can be arch and strange, but that's what I love about them (including A Canterbury Tale).
