I think attempting to discern an undertone is a dangerous game to play. I prefer not to make assumptions but to take everything on evidence.

As to the point on diversity, just because he doesn't spend his time changing Facebook profile pictures to whatever the cause of the moment is doesn't mean we have any reason to draw conclusions about the man one way or the other, other than perhaps he simply prefers to mind his own business and keep certain things private. Old fashioned, perhaps, but I have much sympathy with him if that's the case. Indeed, I try to do the same. :)
