I think it depends on subject matter. I certainly don't care if a film is all male (or all female for that matter) if it is appropriate to the story. For instance, Raise the Red Lantern and The Descent are both all female, with good reason, just as The Great Escape and Lawrence of Arabia are all male, with good reason. All four I consider classics of their respective genres.
However, your general point, both currently and historically, is a fair one, and perhaps it is unfair to cite such films as evidence given the overall trend you are critiquing. :)
