I think several people at the screening I attended hadn't seen it before, as there were plenty of screams. One young woman near me ran - ran - out of the cinema at one point. I think I overheard her say beforehand that she didn't watch horror films, hated being scared, couldn't believe she'd been talked into going, etc. Which might explain things.
