I think the idea that an actor knows a character better than anyone is a flawed notion.

…an who embodied Luke Skywalker in three movies told Rian Johnson so. Did Johnson take the advice of the man who knows Luke better than anyone? Nope. He doubled down on his idea of making Luke a waste case.
