I think the novelty is starting to wear off.

The sudden introduction of Amazon Prime Video, Disney Plus, Hulu, Netflix, and more into the commercial space further sunk viewers into their couches at home. Why go to the movies when the movies can come to you?

I think the novelty is starting to wear off. Cinema has seen off challenges like this for decades (think television, VHS, DVD, home cinema systems, etc).
