I think the scenes where he meets Elena again are so achingly romantic and heartbreakingly sad that they are almost too much to bear. But now I've seen them, I never want to not see them whenever I rewatch this.

"Salvatore: Elena, perhaps in the future we could...

Elena: No, Salvatore, there is no future. There is only the past. Even last night's encounter was just a dream. A wonderful dream. When we were young, we never did it. Do you remember? Now that it has happened, I can't imagine a better ending.

Salvatore: I'll never agree with you. Never."

For God's sake, pass me some tissues before I drown in my tears.
