I think this came out the following year in the UK. I thoroughly enjoyed it and thought it was better than quite a few Star Trek films. It's a great (but gentle) send-up of fandom, a fine Star Trek spoof, and an enjoyable sci-fi adventure in its own right.

I still guffaw at the scene when the boy who helps them is forced to take out the rubbish by his mother, to his protests of her not appreciating the Captain's predicament (or words to that effect). The scene when the baddie alien can still hear everything Tim Allen is saying is also priceless. Oh, and so is Sigourney Weaver (people often forget how great she is at comedy). :)
