I understand all this to a point. However, my most successful Medium article by far to date exceeds the 56 character thing to quite a significant degree.

My personal take is it is good to be aware of all this stuff, but not beholden to it. Do not fawn to the Algorithmic Overlords. Let technology be the servant, not the master. Ultimately, whether or not a human being is interested in what you have to say will be what sells any article.
