I understand what you are saying, and yet this piece I wrote on James Bond films last year, which has a read time of over thirty minutes, is my most successful article to date on Medium (reads are well into five figures). I don't think everyone is here for clickbait, and many of my longer pieces often outperform my shorter pieces. I think it depends on the audience.
