I wasn’t massively impressed by Mary Poppins Returns. I love Emily Blunt, and the Dick Van Dyke cameo was fun (as you point out) but I could really sense the striving of the filmmakers attempting to recapture lightning in a bottle. The original feels light and effortless in comparison (even though I know everyone worked bloody hard on the film). :)
