I wholeheartedly agree. It is for precisely this reason that I no longer consider myself a part of any major denomination. Instead, I have Christian friends - who have no vested interest in controlling me, or trying to get my tithe, etc - to whom I choose to make myself accountable. We are able to have one another's backs, not just for our weaknesses (which we are aware of) but our blind spots (which we are not aware of). One major blind spot in the denominational church is the creation of corporate pyramid structures that isolate leaders, making them unaccountable and frequently surrounded by yes men. I believe in the end any form of unchecked power corrupts, sooner or later, depending on the moral fortitude of the leader. This has to end, and the church has to become truly servant-leader oriented once more, with the focus on being a true ambassador of the Kingdom of God to the world.

Sermon over. Great article by the way.
