 of the best films…this a biting satire on celebrity at all costs, that fame is fame regardless of how it is achieved? Or is this Pupkin still in his mother’s basement, lost deep in his imagination wondering what it would be like to have the life that he never will? As with so many of the best films, the viewer comes away at the end with more questions than answers…

I would argue the ending of The King of Comedy, which plays out like a non-violent version of Taxi Driver in many ways, is definitely all in Pupkin's head. Incidentally, I also think the final scene in Taxi Driver is a delusion.
