I wouldn't say I "thoroughly" disagreed, as film is primarily a visual medium. Dialogue ought to be a regretful second choice when a story cannot be told visually, but that doesn't mean I don't love great dialogue. As screenwriting guru Robert McKee says in his book Story, when a highly imagistic film shifts to dialogue it crackles with excitement and delights the ear. But dialogue as the primary means of storytelling is better suited to theatrical traditions rather than cinematic.
