I'd love to write an article on female science fiction writers throughout history, starting with Shelley, and including others I've not mentioned here such as PD James and Ursula K Le Guin. However, I've not read widely enough with newer female science fiction writers (yet).
One point I would include in such an article is how women have always contributed great science fiction writing in all mediums throughout the decades, including in film and television (many great sci-fi screenplays were either written, co-written, or had a polish by a woman). Some female sci-fi writers decided to conceal their identities so their work wasn't viewed through the prism of gender (DC Fontana's Star Trek episodes, for instance).
