…rs interpreted that aspect of the plotline differently, but felt the movie was gratuitously sexual. I’ve heard many social media critics assert they’ve never seen an actress so completely naked so many times in a film, and that they felt the sex scenes were, for the most part, unnecessary.

If so, they certainly aren't true cineastes. Poor Things is tame compared with, say, In the Realm of the Senses. :)
