If you're asking for candidates for smiting I have a long and distinguished list. God tends to be rather merciful and patient, which sometimes annoys me.
However, if you're talking about people who are rude to individuals in service jobs, I have a solution: I personally think every single person should have to work at least one year (possibly longer) in a customer-facing service job. That way, they understand what these people have to deal with, and hopefully customers will treat them with a bit more respect and dignity. Legitimate complaints are one thing, but I get Incredible Hulk rage when I see people being abusive to such individuals. In fact, I almost got into a fight recently in a Chinese takeaway because of one customer's rudeness to the poor terrified teenage girl behind the counter, who was not to blame for the cockup with this bloke's order, and was doing everything she possibly could to politely resolve the matter. I really got angry with him because his behaviour was completely unacceptable. I thought he was going to throw a punch, but in the end he backed down and waited for his order in a silent sulk.
So yes, everyone should have to work at least one year in a customer-facing service job. And those who continue to be rude in this respect should have to serve additional years in these professions, as part of a rehabilitative punishment.
