cts can’t…fects can accomplish a larger scope of visual action that practical effects can’t always reach… but I’ll also die on the following hill: Digital effects can never be as visceral, cringe-inducing, shocking, or straight-up nasty as every practical effect in The Thing.

I'll join you on that hill. Practical, in camera effects are always best, and CGI should only be the regretful second choice. :)
