I'm a bit of a mixed bag on the books versus films, which is best to view first, debate. In some cases, I'm really glad I saw the films first. In others, I'm really glad I read the novels first. In the case of science fiction, I generally prefer the big screen, but there are notable exceptions (Dune being a great example, though I hope we finally now have an adaptation that matches the richness of the text).
