I'm a huge fan of OMD.

Messages by OMD — Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (mouthful of a band name if there ever was one) were and are phenomenal. Joan of Arc is my favourite but Messages is the most underplayed one. Synth-pop at its finest (that bridge!) and I would argue not many bands did it better than the mighty OMD.

I'm a huge fan of OMD. They and Erasure (also mentioned in this article), along with Depeche Mode, The Smiths, New Order, and, most emphatically, Pet Shop Boys, constitute my favourite bands of the 1980s. :)
