I'm a huge fan of Spielberg, and have written extensively about his films (if you scroll through the pinned article on my profile page, you'll find an in depth piece on Raiders, another piece entitled Seven Times Steven Spielberg Changed Cinema, another on Seven Underrated Spielberg Films, as well as a deeply personal essay on E.T. The Extra Terrestrial.)

For the record, here are the ten films you listed here in my order of preference:

10. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (the least of the original three, but I still love it).

9. Minority Report (a cracking sci-fi thriller).

8. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (featuring a much more deeply moving "Let it go" than Frozen, and ironically also featuring another Elsa).

7. Catch Me If You Can (simply sublime - "Why didn't I concur?").

6. Saving Private Ryan (a fine film, but nothing else in it tops that opening sequence).

5. Close Encounters of the Third Kind (the Spielberg film that most needs the big screen, purely for the appearance of the mothership).

4. Jurassic Park (this one needs the big screen almost as much, for the THX sound).

3. Jaws (featuring the greatest jump scare of all time).

2. Raiders of the Lost Ark (the greatest adventure film ever made, plus where else will you see a monkey perform a Hitler salute?)

1. E.T. The Extra Terrestrial (also featuring my favourite ever John Williams score).

Just one small point of order: Why no Schindler's List?
