I'm another person who refused to write for Screen Rant when they head hunted me. I gave them very short shrift once they told me their rates.
Also, they wanted me to do a test article, free of charge, to "see if we are a good fit". This kind of nonsense needs to be cast back into the fiery chasm from whence it came. Can you imagine having the nerve to say that to an employee on probation in any other profession? "Can you just do this brain surgery for us, to see if we're a good fit?"
All writers, no matter how inexperienced, should ignore Screen Rant and their ilk with extreme prejudice. You can't pay for food with exposure.
