I'm deeply sorry for what happened to your loved one. Obviously, if that is your opinion of Reservoir Dogs, that's entirely fair enough. However, I don't necessarily think everyone responds to Tarantino the same way, and I don't agree that Reservoir Dogs is parastic on real suffering, unless of course it were based in fact.

What I will agree with is that cinematic violence is often inherently voyeuristic in nature. It feels as though we the audience are the ones committing the violence. There are exceptions of course (I'd argue in a film like The Passion of the Christ or Schindler's List, it feels more like the violence is being inflicted on the viewer).

Violence has a been a part of drama for time immemorial, and I don't think that's going to change. Whether violence is gratutious or pornographic is another ongoing debate I can't see ever disappearing.
