I'm from the UK, and haven't heard of this publisher (I assume it is in the US). I think it would be a much bigger deal were this a major publisher, but smaller presses can sink easily. As to the novel itself, I can't judge whether a book I've not read is genuinely racist, but at the very least that blurb was careless, stupid, and definitely shouldn't have been approved for release.
