I'm not quite as fervent as you (hence "arguably") as I still like Titanic, but as I said to Mark elsewhere in these comments, my brain insists LA Confidential is the better film.

I've just remembered LA Confidential also won a Best Supporting Actress for Kim Basinger, so I've tweaked my article accordingly. :)
