I’m not sure I’d apply a ban to all animals in all situations for filmmaking. For me, it would be on a case by case basis.

I also don’t see the point in censoring old films. It makes absolutely no difference to animal welfare today. But I do believe current films ought to have stricter rules for filmmaking given the example regarding horses that you cite. :)
