I'm not surprised. These all sound hilarious, and I certainly wouldn't be remotely offended.

I think the specific issue with the word in question pertains to the historical oppressive baggage attached to it, perhaps. Can the curse of this baggage be broken? Not for me to say. But I still get where you're coming from.
