I'm particularly fascinated by Celtic history, including the period which saw conflict between Paganism and Christianity, as Celtic missionaries came to the British Isles. They were very different to the Christians from the Roman Church, often mystics who did strange things like (supposedly) commune with angels in secret in the forest. The myths and legends (which I daresay have their roots in truth) are fascinating, and obviously the Arthur legends are informed by this period. :)
