In August 2011, when picking blackberries with my then 5 year old and 2 year old children, we were attacked by what I can only describe as a tornado of wasps. My eldest ran for it, but I had to dive into said tornado to retrieve my 2 year old. We were covered in stings and couldn't sleep properly for at least a couple of days. It was hellish and traumatic for all concerned.

Upshot: I will not suffer a wasp to live. If I see one, it is dead. If my children see one, it is dead. They are the one creature on this earth upon which I show absolutely no mercy.

Lovely article by the way. :)
