In my personal opinion, Scent of a Woman isn't a great film in general, and Pacino's win serves as an example of winning for a lesser film/performance, when much better films/performances ought to have been recognised instead. That is all I am saying. I don't think it is the least deserving Oscar win in history, but I can understand why it gets cited the way it does. Scent of a Woman is nowhere near the same league as The Godfather.
