In Wise's case, I do agree. Very versatile, but a journeyman rather than a singular artist. In Spielberg's case, I think he does have a visual style (see previous comment) but his films are also thematically linked (for example by the theme of family disintegration). I'll spare you that essay (for now), as I've done quite enough comment vomit on this piece. Sorry. :)
