Indeed, though weirdly enough, I have yet to meet someone of my generation who was terrified of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. I know it caused some controversy for the reasons you outline, but for whatever reason, I only considered it terrifying in retrospect, as an adult. Rather like the Grimm fairy tales.
