Interesting. I'm in the UK rather than America, and liked the film probably more than you did (my review is here). I think it has tapped into a zeitgeist of nostalgic audiences fed up with present problems (and possibly superhero films too). That said, I don't think the film is groundbreaking and I doubt it will end up on my ten greatest films of the year list. :)
