Interesting article. I agree with this in theory, but in practice, it can all get a bit Misery-ish and entitled. With rare exceptions, I tend to avoid series of this kind until the final book is released. Then I go back and enjoy the lot. The same principle applies with TV (I didn't watch The Wire, Breaking Bad, and various others until they were finished).
