Ironically, Shakespeare was a populist in his time and is only considered highbrow centuries later.

As for Rowling and King, I love them both, and have many favourites among their novels. I despise snobby attitudes to them, given the clear and obvious brilliance of their stories. These are stories that will last, and with good reason.
