It is, but it's also a brilliant ending.

I love this film. I love how it is both darkly hilarious (that scene in the porn cinema with all the victims) and properly gruesome, with old-school non-CGI effects (best werewolf transformation ever). Plus, as a teenager I was absolutely in love with Jenny Agutter (as I was with pretty much anything featuring her, from Walkabout to Logan's Run and this). :)
