It's a reference to the brilliant Talking Head's Stop Making Sense film, in which David Byrne's performance art antics are a highlight (he wears a ridiculously big jacket). Earlier in the film, Cage's wife fantasises about that jacket, and then it happens at the end in the dream, so it's a melancholy payoff.
