It's a stronger than usual musical biopic, I agree. Most of them are an assortment of cliches (give or take the genuine filmmaking standouts, like Control, about Joy Division frontman Ian Curtis). Better Man works very well because of its central chimpanzee conceit, even if the narrative path is familiar.
