It's easy to be cynical about Merchant-Ivory.

…ple…ple of its genre, a film where we rarely doubt that these are real events happening to real people. Despite its long running time, it has more energy than the entire output of Merchant-Ivory combined.

It's easy to be cynical about Merchant-Ivory. I still think The Remains of the Day is one of the best films I've ever seen (great novel too). :)
