It's the most beautiful film I've ever seen. Kubrick used a specially developed film stock so he could shoot interiors in candlelight, and as a result it looks like nothing else. Also not a single CGI pixel.
I also love the visual nods to Gainsborough paintings, the hypnotical, slow (but never boring) pace, the unsparingly Kubrickian examination of human frailty, the music, the performances, the tension in the duel scenes, the witty narration... It's a masterpiece.
