It's true about Disney (and I can understand why, given their treatment of certain fairy stories Tolkien loved in their original form). I can't comment on the Amazon series as I've yet to see it. However, although I don't think he would have wholly approved, Warner Brothers (via New Line and Peter Jackson) treated The Lord of the Rings with a lot of respect. Christopher Lee knew Tolkien personally, and has (I believe) opined that he would have certainly liked some elements of the films (definitely not all though).

But again, this is all futile speculation. :)
