I've actually not watched Hereditary since. I should probably give it another go. I desperately wanted to be scared when I saw it in the cinema, but wasn't. The audience didn't seem scared either (someone giggled very loudly when she's floating in the air towards the end, but perhaps it was just nervous laughter).
Beau is Afraid is a maddeningly mixed bag (see review below) but Midsommar to my mind at least has a clear cut premise that is logically followed through, unlike Hereditary. I still think Midsommar is definitely a horror film.
