I've never been able to understand vulgar, narcissistic displays of grief on social media (especially Twitter). If my wife were to suddenly die, there is absolutely no way in hell I'd be tweeting about it. I'd have a hard enough time making the horrible telephone calls to family members with the hideous news that I'd still be in too much shock to utter or even fully believe myself.

And I must say, with some regret, I agree with you about the internet. I'd say it's been more a force for evil than good. I am still grateful for many elements of it though, and of course enjoy the irony of discussing a matter like this online.
