I've no idea about Dungeons and Dragons, but I've invented my own monster for an aquatic threat: The Demoprawn. Shoals of these infest the Hawkins water supply via a portal from the Upside-Down and prove vicious and unpleasant. On the other hand, once dead, they taste nice with seafood sauce, some lettuce, a squeeze of lemon, etc.
