Jodorowsky is an interesting director (El Topo, The Holy Mountain, etc) but I seriously doubt the film would have been a masterpiece. A fascinating curiosity, perhaps. I watched the Jodorowsky's Dune documentary, and there were things in his script I didn't approve of at all - castrating Leto, the death of Paul, making it rain at the end (which Lynch also did), etc, etc. Of course, we'll never know for sure, but as a devotee of the novel I don't see those changes as positive (unlike what Villeneuve did). :)
