Leaving aside the debate about whether films that go direct to streaming attract prestigious talent or not, or even are any good, they are the modern day equivalent of what used to be straight-to-video films, which in pre-VHS days were typically B-features that did play in cinemas, but are mostly forgotten (with a few notable exceptions). As with all of these, there are a few diamonds amid the vast quantities of quartz.
